Get to Know Your Tims

Tims (T cell immunoglobulin and mucin containing protein) are a group of type 1 transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on a variety of cell types. In humans, Tim-1,3, and 4 have been identified. Eight Tims (1-8) have been discovered in mice. Research has shown that Tims regulate immune responses and promote T helper cell proliferation. Tims are involved in a wide range of areas, from atopic disease and T cell proliferation to allergies and autoimmune responses.
