CD5 is a 67 kD protein, also known as Lyt-1, Ly-1, T1, Tp67, or Ly-12. It is a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich protein superfamily (SRCR) and primarily expressed on thymocytes, T cells, and B-1 cells. Although mature α/β T cells express high levels of CD5, very few γ/δ T cells express this antigen. The interaction of CD5 with CD72, gp35-37, TCR, or BCR is involved in T and B cell activation.

Related FAQs
- Do you guarantee that your antibodies are totally pathogen free?
-
BioLegend does not test for pathogens in-house aside from the GoInVivo™ product line. However, upon request, this can be tested on a custom basis with an outside, independent laboratory.
- Does BioLegend test each Ultra-LEAF™ antibody by functional assay?
-
No, BioLegend does not test Ultra-LEAF™ antibodies by functional assays unless otherwise indicated. Due to the possible complexities and variations of uses of biofunctional antibodies in different assays and because of the large product portfolio, BioLegend does not currently perform functional assays as a routine QC for the antibodies. However, we do provide references in which the antibodies were used for functional assays and we do perform QC to verify the specificity and quality of the antibody based on our strict specification criteria.
- Does BioLegend test each Ultra-LEAF™ antibody for potential pathogens?
-
No, BioLegend does not test for pathogens in-house unless otherwise indicated. However, we can recommend an outside vendor to perform this testing as needed.
- Have you tested this Ultra-LEAF™ antibody for in vivo or in vitro applications?
-
We don't test our antibodies for in vivo or in vitro applications unless otherwise indicated. Depending on the product, the TDS may describe literature supporting usage of a particular product for bioassay. It may be best to further consult the literature to find clone specific information.
- What are Flexi-Pure™ antibodies?
-
Flexi-Pure are rapidly made, made-to-order purified antibodies that are more concentrated than our traditional Ultra-LEAF antibodies. The technology, manufacturing processes, and specifications used to create Flexi-Pure are the same as that of Ultra-LEAF.
- How quickly will I receive my Flexi-Pure™ antibody order?
-
We aim to ship the Flexi-Pure antibodies within 2-3 weeks of receipt of your order. However, depending on your location, shipping times may vary.
- How do I determine the optimal concentration for using my Flexi-Pure™ antibodies? How should I titrate my antibody?
-
Flexi-Pure antibodies are provided at concentrations between 4 - 10 mg/mL. We recommend that you titrate your antibody to determine the optimal concentration to use for your application.
- Are the specifications of Ultra-LEAF™ and Flexi-Pure™ antibodies the same?
-
Yes, they are the same. For example, neither Ultra-LEAF, nor Flexi-Pure antibodies are tested for pathogens. In addition, they are not tested for functional applications unless indicated otherwise in their respective Technical Datasheet. However, there are differences in concentration. Typically, Flexi-Pure™ antibodies are more concentrated than the Ultra-LEAF™ antibodies.
- I can’t find the Flexi-Pure™ antibody I need. When will it be available?
-
Please contact your local Field Applications Scientist.
- I need help to validate the performance of my Flexi-Pure™ antibody. Who should I contact?
-
Please get in touch with Technical Service for assistance.
- Can I order more sizes other than 1 mg or 5 mg of Flexi-Pure™?
-
Yes, for bulk single-lot orders, contact our Custom Solutions team.
- What is the expiration date of my Flexi-Pure™ antibody?
-
Expiration dates can be found on the vial label or by using our CoA lookup tool.
